The Merseyside Council of Faiths, MCF, has been in existence since 2001 and is made up of representatives of different faith communities in the Merseyside area.
MCF exists to advance religion for public benefit by bringing together members of different faith communities in a common effort to:
Encourage and promote the knowledge and understanding of the beliefs and practices of religious faiths, sects and denomination.
Encourage the recognition of and respect for both the common ground between faith comunities and their unique characteristics.
Develop friendship, trust and good community relations by promoting equality of opportunity, racial harmony and good community relations.
Create and develop channels of co-operation,consultation and representation with city and metropolitan boroughs and with countywide organisations spiritual, material and other matters.
Consult and act upon issues affecting the life of the community and especially to seek to relieve conflict, poverty and environment degradation.
Learn from and disseminate our knowledge and experience to other bodies working toward similar objectives locally, nationally and internationally.
An outline of the beliefs of the faiths represented on the Council can be found in the menu above.
